Age Concern Kingston upon Thames is an independent, local charity.

Passionate people, offering quality services, delivered with flexibility, care and energy, helping you to live a greater life...

We were formed in 1999, following the merger of Age Concern Kingston and Malden and Coombe Older People's Welfare Association, both of which had a long history of service provision within the Borough.  The foundations of our organisation date back to 1946.

Age Concern Kingston upon Thames is NOT part of Age UK.  Click here to read our blog explaining why we took the decision not to join.

Our vision is:  To make later life a greater life.

Our vision embraces the word 'great'.  As a service provider, we define great as achieving distinction, beyond what is ordinary, it is about us being exceptional and successful in the eyes of our users and stakeholders in all that we do. This word underpins our work:

  • it is accessible and can be understood on its own
  • it describes our volunteers and staff
  • its describes our range of services
  • it describes our organisational aspirations
  • and most importantly we believe it describes the life older people want to have.

Our Purpose:

To support and help older people to live independent, healthy, safe and fulfilling lives through the provision of a range of services which meet their needs and wishes.

Our Values & Beliefs:

  • diversity and dignity is valued in all that we do
  • all people have the right to make decisions about their lives
  • to challenge ageist attitudes and practices
  • to promote independence, involvement and empowerment

Our aim is to enable the estimated 26,000 people over the age of 60 in the Borough of Kingston upon Thames to:

  • live with independence and dignity
  • decide the direction of their own lives
  • enjoy life as part of the community

We also work to:

  • influence local policy and practice
  • create a greater understanding of the needs of older people and their potential to contribute to community life.

Age Concern Kingston also works in innovative ways with children through our intergenerational work .
