AC Kingston's new Active Living Project, in partnership
with RBK Sports and Leisure, looks set to achieve its target of
2,500 more active Kingston over 45 year-olds by 2009.
In the three months since the launch of the project
by Mayor Cllr Shiraz Mirza and local celebrity author Jacqueline
Wilson last October, almost 500 people have signed up for an Active
Living Passport. Project Coordinator Grace Shorthouse and her team
have braved wind and rain in town centres across the Borough in
a drive to promote the benefits of choosing to live more actively.
The Active Living Project aims to encourage Kingston
people aged over 45 to take at least three sessions of moderate
intensity activity a week, to stay fit and healthy and look ten
years younger! Hundreds of clubs & centres across the Borough
are participating in the scheme, offering activities for people
of all ages, levels of ability and preference.
So wherever you live, whatever your age, and however
fit you are, there should be something in it for you.
All you have to do is join the Passport scheme,
which you can get stamped at any participating centre, and you will
be given incentives en route and a prize at the end.
Why not pick up a copy of the Active Living Directory,
to find out what's available in your area? (Also available online:
